This summer season is filled with all the beauty and wonderful scents from all the flowers. Here in Scandinavia it’s almost like one big firework during these short months of summer and daylight 24/7.
I love it all so much! I love each and every beautiful flower. They all have their own uniqueness. It makes me want to capture it all, putting it in jars and preserve it, keeping it so I can find it during the long winter and remind me of natures beauty.
So, every year I set out to make stuff based on flowers and plants I love.
Today I want to share my homemade rose water. It’s a simple but yet beautiful way to preserve the beauty, scent and color if the oh so wonderful wild roses.
Who doesn’t loooove the scent of roses?!
I use my rose water for several different things.
I use it as a refreshing face mist just as is. I use it to make yummy rose jelly, rose syrup and to add a extra summery feel to drinks and desserts.
Rose is highly recommend for it’s skin healing properties so this is wonderful stuff. And the best of all: it’s totally free!!
Homemade Rosewater
1 cup of freshly picked wild rose petals
4 cups of freshly boiled water
Add the rose petals to a bowl.
Bring the water to boil and pour it over the rose petals. Let sit for aprx 24 hours.
Drain away the leaves (that now have turned white). Add the rose water to clean bottles.
I keep my rose water in a cool, dry place with tight lid.
In the picture I’ve used a cute, little bottle from the thrift store.
Hugs&kisses
