Yummy stinging Nettle chips

Ok, you might think I've gone crazy today, talking about the most yummy chips I've ever made - stinging nettle chips - no, they won't sting when you eat them! No worries! The only thing that will happen is that you'll regret you didn't make double dose. Yes, it's true, you can use these wild, unwanted nettle plants to make food. Usually I use nettles for soup, sautéed or as a cleansing tea together with peppermint. But today I'll talk about the nettle chips. I got the idea after I tasted some kale chips. It was tastier than expected and I thought nettle should be very suitable for making chips. I also wanted to use the nettle chips as a fun topping on the green pea& herb vegan soup I made at the cafe. And yes it worked ...

Sommerslabberas

Garden love

Today I found the very first ripe, red strawberry in my garden this summer - what could ever make this day any better? The feeling of success, happiness and utter joy when the plants you've grown and carefully watered bring you their scencere thanks giving fruits you can eat and enjoy. So, in order of this event i thought i should just give you a little glimpse into one of my passions and joys; pieces of my garden. Being outdoors is my kind of recharge, fuel up and feel alive and whole. BC of my previous illness the last three years I haven't been able to do much gardening or growing so this year, when I finally have found my way and the energy to do a little bit of garden passion it feels special and precious. Now you might ...

Plastic free Vegetable net

Do you love fresh fruits and vegetables even more in the summer? Me too! I love going to the fruit market and pick mangoes, peaches, melon, apples.... all kinds of fresh fruit. What I really like about the vegetable / fruit market is that most of the fruits and veggies are not wrapped in plastic. But then, when we pick the fruit we're about to buy we put it in little plastic bags ... to reduce the use of plastic I decided I wanted to make some nets to use when I'm shopping for fruits and veggies that are easy to bring along in a handbag. So I decided to use some of my spare cotton yarn and crochet a veggie net. I'll share the crochet recipe for my net in English and Norwegian. Along my way I realised more people are thinking the same ...

Ok, Yes I know I'm going on and on every day about the wonderful summer weather in Oslo .... but really, it is quite unusual! I mean, 32 degrees Celsius! it's May (still - even if it's last day) and today all we can think about is ice cold lemonade... 😊 So, after making vegan red pepper soup at the café today I decided I needed to make some fresh, ice cold lemonade for me and the girls at home. Luckily Sol (my youngest daughter 16) had picked some lemons and frozen raspberries at the grocery store yesterday so I was all set for pink lemonade today. This recipe is quick and easy and made in seconds ... I added some "frosting" on the glass brim dipping the brim of the glass into the lemonade and then in white sugar. 🇳🇴Norwegian recipe ...

More lilacs

After one evening with rain the sun is back. Now I must say I love the sun but still always feel so refreshed after a little summer rain. The smell of the soil, the grass and flowers and even the colours are more intense after a little rain. So today, as promised in my last post about lilacs and lilac recipes , I'll share a couple more of my favourite lilac recipes. I've actually added one more really tasty and pretty "healthy " one as well along with the sweet and tangy lilac-lime jelly, you'll get to know my lilac-vanilla-yoghurt ice cream and some super cute sugar frosted lilac flowers for decorating. Lilac&lime jelly 5 dl water (2 cups) 5 dl lilac flowers 5 dl organic sugar 15 grams gelatine powder Fresh squeezed juice from ...
