Happy Monday!
It’s mid July, it’s the warmest summer in more than 70 years in Oslo …. we are enjoying the days off and summer at home, rewinding after the wedding weekend one week ago and just chilling, doing things we love.
Yes, we love DOING things. So, we enjoy our staycation in the garden, working on our self made pergola project (Jarle is doing the most woodwork) and after doing the entire framework we’ve now added in windows on two sides of the pergola π
I’m enjoying the day at the deck chair in the garden. Crocheting.
I’m really so excited about the collaboration with hobbii and the beautiful organic wool I’m testing, I can’t help myself but sharing my crochet project.
Most times I don’t share until finished and the instructions and “how to” are in place … but this time you’ll get a little behind the scenes glimpse of the project and of the happy homemakers perfect day at home π
I’m using the wonderful NATURE 100% organic wool yarn from hobbii, making a large crochet shawl. I chose the color #42 dusty pink, and it’s so beautiful. Couldn’t be more satisfied. The yarn comes in a wide range of colors … it might be hard to choose…. I think I’ll use this soft, light, ORGANIC yarn more often π
I wanted the shawl to be soft, light, airy, summery and still warming on a summer night. I also wanted to crochet this project (as I like crocheting in the summertime… ) using simple basic stitches and a easy repetitive pattern.
I like different types of scallop patterns, especially for the summery feel so I decided the base of the shawl should be all airy scallop pattern. I did some trial and error ended up with this one, and I feel completely satisfied. I think the shawl will turn out exactly as I planned.
This pattern is really very simple, and just because it’s summer and because I’m really excited about this project I’ll share my chart and a little video on how I crochet the two rows repeating trough the entire shawl.
If you like how it looks so far please feel free to get your own yarn and crochet along!
The chart is simple read and the stitches used are (US therms: ) chain, single crochet and treble. (Norwegian: kjedemaske, fastmaske og dobbeltstav)
That being said, I will make a complete instruction on the entire shawl when finished. I’ll probably make an edge around the edges of the shawl too. So please hang on! π to make sure you don’t miss a thing sign up for email notifications from the blog.

Here is the video Eirun and I made …. it’s far from perfect and you can even hear her brother whistling and goofing around in the background. The video ends because he makes her laugh so much she can’t hold the camera anymore …. yay …. just view this as your behind the scenes glimpse into our goofy days of staycation π
The chart for the repetitive crochet pattern I use for the shawl is here.
Enjoy and make sure to come back later for the entire instruction.
Hope you feel inspired to get your crochet going.
Have a wonderful summer wherever you are.
Hugs & kisses
Gudrun
